Déo KAYONDE

Head of Clinical Psychology

Déo KAYONDE is a clinical psychologist who has been serving in the field of clinical psychology since 2007 to date. He previously worked as a clinical psychologist at Kacyiru Police Hospital, where he was appointed Head of Clinical Psychology.

From 2007 to 2009, he worked at Kacyiru Police Hospital in the ARV service, specifically providing pre- and post-test counseling. From 2009 to 2015, he provided psychosocial support for gender-based violence and child abuse cases at Isange One Stop Center.

Since 2015 to date, he has been providing psychosocial support to patients with alcohol and drug use disorders at Huye Isange Rehabilitation Center. Déo KAYONDE organizes clinical psychology services, leads teams in psychosocial support care for drug users and alcohol abuse patients, and oversees daily activities.

He works in a multidisciplinary team with mental health nurses and psychiatrists to enhance the support provided to patients through different approaches. He also conducts various trainings in mental health, specifically in clinical psychology and addiction.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Psychology from the National University of Rwanda, obtained in 2006.
